Ever the protective older brother, as
soon as he found out that I was going to set-up a little boutique downtown, my
brother immediately went online and looked through home
security systems consumer reviews for ideas on how to make my future
business a safe working environment for a woman on her own.
He soon set his eyes on a particular consumer choice security
device: a burglar alarm equipped with sensors and an automatic phone dialer. He
figured, if it had the approval stamp of a lot of customers, it may as well be
reliable enough for my shop.
When in action, the motion detectors installed
on the doors and show window of the shop become sensitive to movement. In case
motion is detected, an alarm that's as loud as a pneumatic drill will sound
off. If that alarm doesn't manage to scare the wits out of vandals and thieves,
then the auto-dialer should do the job.
My auto-dialer is programmed to give me
a ring in case of an intrusion. And like most high-tech home
security camera systems, I can access surveillance footage online and
opt to either disarm the alarm or to facilitate the necessary action.
I was pretty impressed with the simple
yet efficient protection provided by the alarm. However, never in my wildest
dreams did I expect that this particular alarm would save me thousands of my
hard-earned cash.
It was around midnight of the very same
day that thousands-worth of my new designs came in; I was jolted awake by my
phone. It was the auto-dialer, informing me of an intrusion. I immediately logged
on to my online surveillance and saw the crooks scampering away from my shop.
Apparently, the alarm had taken them by surprise. While driving to the
boutique, I called up the police to report the incident.
I always share this story to my friends;
especially the ones thinking about opening up a business because in this day
and age, you really have to get technology on your side to keep you and your
business safe and secured.
